Midterm Project Update
March 14, 2003

Today I printed and distributed the postcards that make up the packets of my network. I asked ten questions, each with four cards, totaling 40 postcards, which were passed out in the span of three hours on the ITP floor on the last day before spring break.

The final ten questions were:

  • What is the Hall Effect?
  • Where can I get free beer?
  • Are catfish kosher?
  • What's the most romantic restaurant in Helsinki?
  • How late is Radio Shack open?
  • Who was Dave Magadan?
  • Where was Clay Shirky born?
  • What is Red Burns' real name?
  • What is putu?
  • Where's the best place to tango in New York?

PREDICTIONS

  • 25 of the cards will be returned through the mail.
  • 15 will never be seen again.
  • 2 of the cards will be returned with no answer.
  • 4 of the cards will have the wrong answer.
  • 4 of the cards will have guesses.
  • 20 of the postmarks will be from the ITP zipcode (10003).
  • One postmark will be from a zipcode outside New York.
  • At least one of the Clay Shirky questions will be passed through Clay Shirky.
  • This project will result in good free beer hints for the networks class. That is, the free beer question will have a high response rate.
